The Vietnam War was an armed conflict between the United States armed forces and the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong. The Vietnam War is the main focus of the hateful relationship between Ben McCall and Antonio Alvarez
Call of Juarez: The CartelEdit
In his youth, Ben McCall had wanted to become a minister like his father. However, in 1972, he was drafted in Vietnam where he witnessed the brutalities of the war, which later caused Ben to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. During the war, Ben became friends with Patrick Stone and Antonio Alvarez. On August 15th, 1972, Antonio Alvarez raped and then murdered a Vietnamese girl named Hue Pham. Ben and Patrick witnessed the event and Ben filed a report. However, during an interrogation, Patrick lied and claimed he never witnessed the events. Without any witnesses, Alvarez was released without any charges. This caused Ben to develop a deep hatred against Alvarez and to have a strained relationship with Stone. The hatred Ben had would ensue into 2011 where Ben join the Interagency Task Force to dissolve the Mendoza Cartel and to arrest Alvarez.
