The Škorpion is a select-fire, blow-back operated submachine gun that fires from a closed bolt. The .32 ACP cartridge it uses, allows it to have very little recoil impusle, and to use the blow-back operation. When fired, gas pressure drives the case into the chamber. The bolt travels back extracting the case, and chambering a fresh round. As the bolt is light, the Škorpion uses an inertia rate reducer device to lower its firing rate from 1,000 rpm to 850 rpm. This is achieved by the following: when the bolt reaches the end of its rearward stroke it strikes, and is caught by a spring-powered hook mounted on the back plate. At the same time it drives a spring-loaded plunger into the pistol grip. The plunger is accelerated and passes through a heavy weight. The plunger, having compressed the spring, is driven up again and meets the inertia buffer. This slows down the rising plunger which, when it reaches the top it rotates the hook, releasing the bolt which is driven forward by the compressed recoil springs.
Call of Juarez: The CartelEdit
The Skorpion has the second fastest fire rate of any weapon in the game, surpassed only by the U.Z.I.. The Skorpion is used primarily by Candy Store bouncers. The Skorpion is also seen on a weapons crate in the Alcazar, but it is not used by the Mendoza Cartel or PKI mercenaries. It is unlocked by completing the mission "Gang Bang".
