All variants of the Mossberg 500 pump-action shotgun are based on the same design concept. Originally using a single-action bar, it was changed to a dual-action bar, which was less likely to bind than a single-action. A large locking lug is used to secure the breech. The magazine tube, located under the barrel, is screwed into the reciever. Intended for use in harsh conditions, the Mossberg 500 is suited well for hunting, or combat situations.
Call of Juarez: The CartelEdit
The M500 is mainly used by Rolling 50s' members, although in "Panorama" a Cartel hitman will drop a M500. The M500 is the weakest shotgun in the game, and is later replaced with the R870, which is then replaced by the M4 and AS-12. However, a M500 can be seen on the shotgun crate in the Alcazar. The ingame model is based off the Mossberg 500A Field Gun, which is a popular hunting weapon. It is unlocked by completing the mission "Docks".
