Description[]

Chicken

Chickens are a domesticated fowl and a subspecies of the Red Junglefowl. As one of the most common and widespread domestic animals, there are more chickens in the world than any other species of bird. Humans keep chickens primarily as a source of food, consuming both their meatand their eggs.

Humans first domesticated chickens of Indian origin for the purpose of cockfighting in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Very little formal attention was given to egg or meat production. Recent genetic studies have pointed to multiple maternal origins in Southeast, East, and South Asia, but with the clade found in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa having originated in the India. From India, the domesticated fowl made its way to the kingdom of Lydia and domestic fowl were imported to Greece by the fifth century BC. Fowl had been known in Egypt since the 18th Dynasty, with the bird having come to Egypt from the land between Syria and Shinar, Babylonia, according to the annals of Tutmose III.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood[]

Chickens are first seen walking the streets and alleys of San Lorenzo, when the McCalls were attacking the Rattler. They are then seen again in Julian Ramos' gated hideout. They are also seen occupying Raytown. Again, chickens are seen in Jim Peter's and Freeman's ranches. Chickens are last seen in Juarez' alcazar.

Call of Juarez[]

At Jones' farm, Hope, and the Ferguson Ranch, chickens are heard, but never seen.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger[]

Chickens are seen in various locales. They can be shot and killed, but otherwise cannot be interacted with.
