Knives appear in Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood as a weapon used exclusively by NPCs.
Mechanics[]
A knife is a cutting tool with an exposed cutting edge or blade, hand-held or otherwise, with or without a handle. Knife-like tools were used as long as 2.5 million years ago. Originally made of rock, flint, and obsidian, knives have evolved over the years with blades being made from bronze, copper, iron, steel, ceramic, and itanium. Many cultures have their unique version of the knife. Certain cultures have attached spiritual and religious significance to the knife.
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood[]
After capturing Jeremy Barnsby, the McCalls left Running River to deal with their former commander. Running River reflected on the mistakes he made in his life, and as an act of redemption cut Barnsby free. In Juarez's Alcazar, Mexican bandit Santos uses a knife to harass William McCall but is shot dead by the preacher.
The knife also appears as a non-interactive object throughout the game, usually used to pin posters to walls.
Call of Juarez[]
A dying Ray McCall wakes up to see Juan Mendoza pull a knife out and attempt to stab Billy Candle, but the outlaw is shot dead by Ray.
Trivia[]
- The knife in both games appears to be a Bowie knife. In Call of Juarez it has a steel blade, and in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood it appears to have an obsidian blade.
- It is thought that the knife was originally intended for use in Call of Juarez but was cut during development.
- Coincidentally the Bowie knife was issued to Confederate troops during the American Civil War, yet it is never used by NPCs outside of cutscenes in Bound in Blood.
