Deon Evans is a minor character featured in Call of Juarez: The Cartel. Deon is the youngest and only surviving brother of FBI agent Kim Evans, and a member of the Rolling '50s street gang. He provides his sister with information about gang politics and criminal activities in exchange for protection from federal prosecution.
Deon Evans is voiced by Vince Green.
Born to a single mother and raised in Compton, California, Deon Evans was recruited as a street dealer for the Rolling '50s gang in East Los Angeles by the time he was eighteen, despite having lost two brothers to gang violence during his childhood and much to the chagrin of his older sister Kim.
Call of Juarez: The CartelEdit
After being caught and detained during a transaction by Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents, he is requisitioned by Kim on account of his connections with the various gangs of Los Angeles, and becomes her private informant for much of the game; in times when her task force, led by LAPD detective Ben McCall, comes in conflict with the Rolling '50s, Deon is detained by the LAPD for his own protection.
Throughout the investigation, Deon's information leads to breakthroughs on several occasions. During the team's investigation into a roster of kidnapped women, the Rolling '50s are massacred by rival gang Araña. In a fit of hysteria, Deon informs Kim of an impending cash shipment by Araña to its Cartel suppliers, allowing the squad to intercept the convoy and seize its cash. He also reveals the arrival of Jesús Mendoza, leading to his capture, and the implication of Michael Duke with the Cartel; unfortunately, he is unable to help Kim locate Jessica Stone, following her disappearance at the Panorama nightclub. It is unknown what happens to him after the events of The Cartel.
Deon is a young African-American teen. He has a shaved head, and some stubble. He wears a black sports jersey with "00" on the back, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
As a gang member, Deon is well-connected with California's criminal underworld, through both fellow members and personal associates. However, his youth makes him rather reckless, frequently dismissive for his own welfare and quick to vengeance without his sister's guidance.
He is very distrustful of authority and helps Kim exclusively, warning her that working with the government will come to haunt her in the future; depending on the player's ending, he is correct, as Kim is arrested for complicity in the murder of Jessica Stone and Kevin DonLeavy.
- Deon appears to be an avid drug user. When he is arrested by the LAPD (to keep him out of the impending battle between the Rolling 50's and the Task Force), he is charged with drug possession, and being under the influence.
- Evans is a Welsh family name which means "Son of Evan".
