The American Civil War was an armed conflict between the Union Army, and the Confederate States of America with comprised of southern states that had seperated from the Union and became their own country during the years of 1861-1865. Many characters throughout the Call of Juarez series have participated in the war. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood's beginning missions take place during the war.
Call of Juarez: Bound in BloodEdit
In 1862, the McCall's father was killed while fighting in Antietam. Thomas and Ray had also fought (besides Antietam) in the battles of Shiloh, Gettysburg, and the Battle of Bull Run. At one point, Ray was imprisoned at Elmira Prison and later escaped. In August of 1864, Ray and Thomas participated in a large skirmish at the Chattahoochee River in Georgia under the command of Colonel Jeremy Barnsby. After the skirmish, Ray and Thomas were given orders to retreat to Jonesboro to reinforce supply lines. Ray and Thomas, fearing for their family's lives deserted their unit and fled to their family plantation.
After Sherman burned down Atlanta, Jeremy Barnsby blamed his family's deaths on all deserters of his unit, and became a wanted outlaw along with dozens of survivng Confederate soldiers.
Call of Juarez: GunslingerEdit
In 1910, Silas Greaves mentions to patrons of the Bull's Head Saloon that several members of the Innocents (led by Henry Plummer) were veterans of the Civil War. Outlaws Jesse and Frank James had fought under Quantrill's Raiders.
